Gone to Cat Heaven

  • Mood:

Bruno my cat who was 17 years old finally had to go to sleep in the 15th August, the day before my birthday. He had a bowl problem and the vet said he was slowly dying. I was devastated and feel so guilty that i made that decision to end his life then rather than 5/6 weeks down the line. I thought he was suffering too much............but how did i know for sure??

I weaned Brun and his 3 brothers with an eye dropper and baby milk at 1 day old. After 3 sleepless nights of feeding the 4  kittens, 3 died and Frank Bruno lived!!!!!He was a fighter. He spent the first 2 months sleeping in my pocket. I used to live in the same 2 cardigans which had pockets, just to keep him cozy and warm like his mother would have.

I was his mother!

I can't say Bruno was a cat that liked cuddling or sitting on my lap. He was too independent and in control. The most he would allow me affection was a nip on the ankle from time to time, at which point he would hiss and run away. He would repeat this 2 or 3 times within 4 minuites.

Frank Bruno lived up to his name for 16 years when we would box together, he standing on his back paws and using his fron paws like hands fighting my hands. He was always the winner, coz he had sharp claws.

What cats do for us

Warm our laps...
Give us someone to talk to...
Help reduce high blood pressure...
Create a "kindred" feeling with other cat people...
Turn common household objects into cat toys...
Make us more aware of birds...
Donate their services as alarm clocks...
Display daring acrobatic feats in front of our eyes...
Contribute to living a longer life...
Make a window sill more beautiful...
Keep mice on the run...
Make us smile...
Inspire Poets and Playwrights...
Teach us how to land on our feet...
Let us indulge our desires to spoil someone...
Make our homes warmer...
Remind us that our life is mysterious...
Share with us the all-is-well purring experience...
Instruct us in the luxurious art of stretching...
Show us how to lick our wounds and go on...
Give us cool cartoon characters...
Make even an old warn couch look beautiful...
Open our hearts...

I will remember you always Bruno

I have a page on my website where we honor those loving spirits in our lives that have crossed over to the Summerland. If you would Like to place Brunos picture there with a few words I would be happy to place it up for you. Just e-mail me ( silverhoofs@att.net) mark it Summerland, what words you would posted as well as a jpg or gif of him and I will get right to it. Sorry to hear about Bruno. Must be rough adjusting to someone who you have gotten used to. I have never have a pet that lives more than 5 years except one. His name was Boomer. He was sooooo old that his teeth started falling off and started loosing his eye sight becase he kept on bumping on us while he walks. He was a really good dog.

By the way, I have always send money back home for Christmas. Although I would love to shop for them but the shipping will be way expensive than whats going to be inside the box. Don't worry, i'll remind you when it's almost Christmas to give money. *wink*. Thanks for the visit. It's been crazy here.

So sorry for your loss I'm sure Bruno had a marvelous life with you. Though they do leave a big hole when they have to go. Thanks for stopping by and leaving the kind words that post was sent to me at work at a time I needed a little boost. Life is what we make it no excuses no regrets. Have a great weekend Lucky.

please don't feel guilty about making that decision about Bruno, I think no one would doubt that you made it in the best of his interests. If anything, you helped him cross over the Rainbow Bridge in a more timely manner, i guess o:)

Now, he's where his kitty siblings are and probably has met his real mother too. :)

(i hope that you don't feel like im trivializing what has happened. I too have a lost dear pets in the past and I know how much a part of the family they are)

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of Bruno! Losing a beloved pet is as hard as losing a human loved one, sometimes even harder! I have a Welsh blog friend who just lost her Golden Retriever...another oldster who lived to a ripe old age! They give us such undying and often undeserved devotion, don't they? Hugs to you, dear friend...and I'm glad to hear you're sticking around! Yes, lots have drifted away but others come along, too...very much like 'real' life, I'm thinkin'. I finally got a new computer with DSL that whips all over cyberspace, so I'm hoping to be able to get around more often, now that I don't have to wait 20 minutes to half an hour just to connect to the internet!! Stop by and say hello when you get a chance.
